In the Pursuit of Happiness – What are you avoiding confronting within yourself that is limiting your happiness?

Hello Again Igniters!

The third issue of Insight Igniter is inspired from a series of recent events and conversations about happiness - a topic that resonates with us all. I invite you to take a moment to pause, reflect, and explore the question:

What are you avoiding confronting within yourself that is limiting your happiness?

At first glance, this question may cause you to feel uncomfortable. Yet, it is precisely why I find this question provocative and impactful. In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to sweep our innermost thoughts and feelings under the rug, avoiding the uncomfortable truths that may be holding us back from true happiness. The experience of discomfort often signifies the start of learning, growth and transformation. I offer you the wisdom of Rabbi Dr. Abrahm Twerski.

Let's explore further explore how sitting with this question can positively influence your happiness through uncovering blind spots, shifting accountability, and empowering choice.

Uncovers Blind Spots

We all have blind spots – aspects of ourselves that we're either unaware of or reluctant to acknowledge. These blind spots can subtly sabotage our happiness, perpetuating negative patterns and limiting our potential. By daring to confront what we've been avoiding, we begin to understand these hidden barriers, empowering ourselves to overcome them. I have found that this question can enhance a client’s understanding of their strengths, values, and purpose, and can lead to positive outcomes.

Shifts Accountability

Taking personal accountability for one's actions and outcomes is fundamental to achieving the conditions for success and happiness. It's easy to blame external circumstances for our unhappiness, absolving ourselves of accountability. However, this question challenges us to reclaim our agency and accountability. It reminds us that our happiness isn't solely determined by external factors but is deeply influenced by our internal mindset, beliefs, and choices. In my coaching practice, I encourage clients to set clear objectives, track progress, or seek support from mentors or accountability partners, putting structures in place to hold oneself accountable and stay on track towards happiness and success.

Power of Action

The power to shape your fortune through actions and attitudes is yours alone. When you start making intentional actions that align with your values and goals, rather than passively waiting for external circumstances, you begin to invite further happiness in your life. This is an opportunity for you to shift away from procrastination and self-doubt by taking small, incremental actions you can create immeasurable rewards.

Confronting what you've been avoiding isn't easy, as growth often begins as we move outside of our comfort zones. As you uncover blind spots, take accountability and act you create a bridge between where you are and where you want to be.

Until next issue.

Best,

Stefan
