Here and Now – The Art of Being Present – “What does being present in the moment look and feel like to you?”

Hello Insight Seekers,

When was the last time you were fully present in a given moment? Been a hot minute? From the moment we wake up to the time we crash into bed (hopefully not on the couch), it is easy to slip into “living” at a frantic pace. With the whirlwind of stimulation and distractions, our minds wander and attention splinters and before we know it, we have lost touch with time, relationships and ourselves.

The Insight Igniter fortnightly coaching questions for February 26th 2024

“What does being present in the moment look and feel like to you?”

Pause for a moment, take a breath and consider the question. Where did your mind go? What changes do you observe in your current environment? What do you notice about yourself?

For my clients, this question encourages them to immerse themselves in the moment, deepening their understanding of themselves and their experiences.

Cultivates mindfulness

In my coaching practice, I have leveraged this question in support of creating an engaging coaching space when clients seem distracted, or to support clients navigating their impulsive reflexes. As you become increasingly mindful of your tendencies you may find that you experience increased focus, a reduction in stress, emotional stability and deeper relationship connections.

Encourages exploration

Before you find yourself in the trenches, this question can create the space for you to explore your relationship to a given situation. Posing this question to yourself gives you permission to examine how your values, beliefs, attitude, behaviours and emotional tendencies may influence the situation and contribute to favourable outcomes. As you uncover new insights and perspectives, you become increasingly self and situationally aware of how best you can influence a situation and experience a moment to the fullest.

Empowers choice

You are encouraged to tap into your intuitive insights, increased mindfulness and situational awareness enabling you to navigate complex choices with clarity, purpose and intention. As a coach, I see this as an opportunity to provide the client with healthy challenge as they identify choices to take full ownership of their experience.

Amidst the daily hustle, there exists the opportunity to be present. The question “What does being present in the moment look and feel like to you?” encourages you to pause and focus on what truly matters. I trust that sitting with this question will empower you to choose connection over chaos, take back control over your time, and prioritize self-care.

Best,

Stefan
